With the BBC finally announcing the songs and performers for Making Your Mind Up, we're dusting our flags in readiness for a UK victory...
Well...
We'll dust our flags anyway in the hope the songs can be classified as a melodi.
Thanks to Ozzy Runner, we've heard 5 of the 6 songs.
We'd guess that Justin Hawkins' journey out of the Darkness into the Eurolight (where the love shines-a) together with local girl Beverlei Brown might be one of the favourites to go to Helsinki. The hook is the infectious chorus, but will the BBC have the beep machine ready for those shocking words! There needs to be a show for the instrumental break, where the song appears to finish after two minutes, before realising that EBU rules allow 3 minutes! Perhaps Ronnie Hazelhurst might return to press play on the backing track for the brassy bit - oh those were the days! They don't make 'em like they used to - do they? !
Widely observed by many on the interweb, Cyndi Almouzni has a touch of You raise me up in her ballad I'll leave my heart. She'll just have to sing a little faster to squeeze the 3'18 into 3 minutes - wonder if there's a French version at all?
Former Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon's (Don't it make you) happy! has a hint of Son of a preacher man and the verse has a wee pinch of Kylie - or was that we switched to Kylie after the first chorus.
Who else is there?
Big Brovaz doing their thang.
Former East 17 member Brian Harvey - errm doing his thing and hopefully not revealing his scars.
And the melodi we want to champion, based on poptastic loyalty - Scooch - Flying the flag brackets for you close brackets.
- Will it have a key change?
- Will it have two?
- How many European cities/countries will it name?
- How many outfits will be Bucks Fizzed?
- As for the dance routine, we all know that already!
Right! Where's Maidstone then...
