After a touch and go start with the digital signal, we sat through songs 1 and 2 realising most people were still watching Dancing on Ice - thank goodness! Big Brovaz thang livened up the audience, as rows 1 and 2 were ordered to stand up and clap, but throughout the show, the audience atmosphere seemed to be lacking - where were the fans?!
Cyndi - performed her heart out and deserved success! But where was the stormvind machine?
Scooch flew their flags with an impressive live performance and a lunchbox filled with visual gimmicks - including the Bucks Fizz!
Hawkins and Brown squawked through their performance, so much for being the favourite.
We correctly predicted the head to head super final to be Cyndi vs. Scooch, assuming who performed second would be jetting off to Helsinki.
Terry Wogan should be striped of his knighthood following his verbal malfunction announcing his favourite as the winner of EMYMU. We are inclined to believe Cyndi would have been the UK's best chance for success. Even the BBC were subtle in hinting that a ballad could be our best bet - 5 years since our last best result with Jessica Garlick's Come back.
They also informed viewers that the UK is sandwiched between Ukraine and Romania in the order of appearance, a little bit cheeky ooh ahh just a little bit, as other countries would not have been able to share such information, having made their mind up before the deadline for the draw. Equally as cheeky as letting the television audience know of the alledged international representives preferences: Big Brovaz and Cyndi. Not that that influenced the British televoting public who will always go for what they think is a Eurovision song and then wonder why the UK finish in the lower regions.
Nevertheless, we will naturally be flying our flag for Scooch - even with a touch of the Maggie Moones tonight. Get out your song sheet to practise the lyrics and watch the dance moves!
Star of the show..... Mel Giedroyc!
We''ll be contacting Mel, perhaps over a light lunch, to sing our melodi "Change the key - to unlock your dreams." in MYMU 2008! Which instead of skirt fizzing will have a spot of hat lifting!
