Your secret is out! Such a shocka! Such a scandal! Such a scoodle load of nonsense!
Forget the day trip from Malta to Dubrovnik as there might be a turbulent landing.
Instead of presenting late night ITV quiz programmes Russ has been tuning into HRT during the commercial breaks, where upon he's seen DaRiva sing Dugo u noć. No doubt highlighly influence by the rock guitar middle 8, he then has shockingly copied four notes from that song which he contributed when writing Flying the flag (for you)
Our plagarism police squad have been on high alert in Croatia where it appears it is big news!
Exhibit A - the comparison between the two songs!
Exhibit B - the same as Exhibit A - but shorter so you might prefer to watch this instead!
'Such striking similiarities with that driving dance beat,' we hear you cry!
Exhibit B also has this quote...
"Members from Dubrovnik's DaRiva band were shocked to recently hear the many similarities between one of their songs and "Flying the Flag", a song by the band Scooch, who were representing the United Kingdom on this year's Eurovision.
It was obvious that the chorus in the "Dugo u noć" song, which was recorded about four years ago and was in numerous television and radio programs as well as the internet. This song was also regularly played on HRT Radio Dubrovnik, which meant that TV and audio recordings of the song were available to anyone.
The authors of the song, Nano Vlašić and Giorgio Baranac, are getting help from HDS-ZAMP to protect their song copyright. They are also receiving enormous amount of support from numerous friends and colleagues in the music industry from all over Croatia.
This unexpected and bizarre situation shows that in spite of the fact that we respect the rights of other countries, that some of the big "players" will take parts of certain songs as they see fit.
This matter will be resolved in court in the near future. "
