Three Stools, high heels and a gentle breeze standing in for the wind machine!

The Melodimen celebrated Kronprinsessan Victoria's 30th birthday yesterday, with a trip to IKEA just in time to 'process' through the canteen for Swedish meatballs!

When you stroll around IKEA on their shelves they have duplicate copies of Swedish language books, so why does Radio IKEA not belt out Linda Bengtzing to add to the Swedish atmosphere? We also suggest that customer announcements use Kikki's bong bongs!

(By the way, don't bother asking for the Jonas drawers using your best svenska accent, as the staff at Wednesbury need it to be translated to John-ass.)

We were tempted by the Bettan at £9.99 and kept our eyes open for a Kikki and Lotta to complete the set.

Anyway, while we were strutting around IKEA, the televiewers of Sweden were tuning to SVT

Forget Live Earth or Diana's Concert - the concert of the year had to be this!

For us, it was the first time we would see 3S (Sanna, Shirley and Sonja) take to the stage. Fast forward to 58 minutes and it all begins on three black stools!

Sonja (in the middle) starts by singing a snippet of För att du finns.

Then Shirley radiant in red (on the left) steps the tempo up with Att älska dig.

Finally Sanna (on the right) takes over with....

You raise me up in svenska - sorry?! but where was this.....

Ms Aldén, Ms Clamp and Ms Nielsen all joined forces at the end to finish arms aloft with smallest to tallest - Shirley on the left, blonder than ever Sanna in the middle and Sonja in the super heels on the right.

Talking of heels....

Schlager drottning Carola may have to have a word with God about this faux pas, some hailing to Mary (we'd opt for Mary Spiteri) and some octave higher wailing should just get her off the hook for disgracing herself infront of the future Queen of Sweden. That said, Carola's plan to become Queen was to marry Victoria's younger brother who was heir to the throne, prior to a piece of equality legislation resulting in the eldest child regardless of gender to be next in line for the throne. So she's back to being just a saintly Schlager drottning.

"God it was all the stormvind machines fault! Can you answer my prayers to be front page of Expressen and Aftonbladet and upstage the Princess' party. Amen."

Is Shirley's decision to sing 'Att älska dig' instead of her more recent dismal guitar-inspired ballads a sign of things to come?

And funny you should mention the books - every time i go to IKEA, a few of them accidentally fall into my bag. I once got the Swedish version of Victor Hugo's 'Les Misérables'; I haven't bothered reading it though. Too complicated.
