Tommy for Melodifestivalen - a fait accompli!

Last year, it was rumoured that Tommy Körberg was to return to Melodifestivalen 2007, with a song written by Abba melodi makers Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.

Recently performing on SVT's Allsång på Skansen, on the 7th August 2007 to be precise, BAO (Benny Andersson's Orchestra) and Tommy performed two songs.

Tommy spiffingly dressed in a summer blazer and hat (has he gone bald?) and designer (well designed for Ronnie Corbett) glasses - Marie Lindberg will be jealous!



After a few listens and a glass of rosé, we've grown to like this. Perhaps it's mandatory, as it's the newest and closest offering to Abba in 2007. But it's a swayer, as Uncle Tommy belts it out, in a triumphantly anthemic manner. Did Christer Björkman reject it in favour of Magnus Uggla's För kung och fosterland? Or did he think that this competition would be too tough for The Ark?!

We think the lyric has the words "schlager du spelar" around (-2'43) in which case, well done Björn!

Ofcourse Tommy didn't make it to the Eurovision stage this year, he'll have to make do with memories of 1988 and 1960 something and the odd game of Chess.

This got us thinking about Melodifestivalen 2008...

Sending Magnus Carlsson out in the cold for only the second time since 2000.

Sanna doesn't do even years, but we can hope!

Have you heard that Benny is going to write a song with his son and daughter- in-law (Peter and Nanne Grönvall) and Björn might send some words inspired by his humanist visions. We shockingly speculate that the melodi will be performed by schlager scribbler Ingela 'Pling' Forsman sitting on a red stool in the shape of a sharp HB pencil. With Kikki, Sanna and Lotta on backing vocals!
