Today, we did a spot of S.H.O.PP.I.N.G-ing as the Pet Shop Boys might say. Inspired by House Doctor Ann Maurice and our favourite 'location, location, relocation, location' variation on a theme TV stars; Sarah Beeny, Kirstie and Phil, we went in search of the odd screw driver at Homebase. (Other DIY home improvement stores are available, but they didn't have a 10% (off) day today!)
There was no point strutting up the aisles, or trolley twirling in time to the instore music, as what we heard couldn't be called music, it wasn't even bontempi Celine Dion. A spot of After Dark's (Åh) när ni tar saken i egna händer would've been more appropriate. Which, if you don't already know, is all about household Swedish TV stars; Martin, Tina, Ernst and Bosse. (Åh när ni) when sung quickly sounds like "Onani" which extends the meaning of this Go West esque melodi!
Having found the right sized screws we preceded to checkout. On route, there, in full beauty was the delux wind machine on special offer! Surely this was a treat too good to miss!
With 20% off + the 10% we considered phoning the BBC 'Making your mind up 2008' production team, surely this would be within next years' budget?
Had an inexperienced Saturday assistant incorrectly priced the stormvind machine?
It was clearly from the Carola range and some fool had renamed it a "fan" would you believe!
Dazzled by the 45cm diameter spinning blades, we starred at the display model and read the special features:
The adustable tilt for all heights between titchy Nanne Grönvall to Arja Saijonmaa in her highest heels.
The 3 speed setting, from the gale of Fångad av en stormvind to the gentle breeze of För att du finns.
We twiddled the control knob onto the Vindarna vänder oss setting, our legs reacted by bouncing in unison in a Jessica Andersson type way.
(Eurovision representatives Fame returned to Meldoifestivalen in 2004 with Vindarna vänder oss i.e. The winds around us)
There was only one thing to do......! Race to the checkout, with our Carol Smillie smiles beaming, to become proud owners of a wind machine!
What a blast hey!

Ah - so this is your new 'StormVind Machine™' I've heard so much about.
Just keep it off the 'Värsta Schlagern' setting - we don't want another disaster like that. ;)
