Christer and his G string!

One of the biggest fears for melodi loving schlagerboys and girls must be....

GUITARS!

However, we can reveal that not all guitarists should be feared!

With Christer Sjögren teaming up with Torgny Söderberg, Magnus Johansson och Ingela 'Pling' Forsman to sort out the text och musik for I love Europe, we are left to wonder if he will make his solo debut at Melodifestivalen 2008?

The Schlager box should be ticked for I love Europe, as the diggi-loo diggi-ley able Torgny Söderberg knows how to write a melodi, Kärleken är evig for Lena Ph and 100% for Lotta are two of his best!

Before storming the Eurovision stage, Christer could do with a spot of style och consulting. He'll need more than a rose and some shiny shoes to charm and dazzle the televoters. Least he can start at a low pitch in order to jump an octave higher for the big ending. Linda Bengtzing beware! Lets hope he remembers the words as Ingela's not going to be impressed if he opts for some Da dada da dada da das in her second verse.

We reckon the second verse might go something like this:

Altogether everyone
From Stockholm to London
Altogether you and me
From the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea

Altogether one and all
United by music beyond this hall

Altogether black and white
Rainbow stars we all unite

Instrumental break with the guitar including a key change!

I love you Europe (You You Europe!)
I love you Europe (You You Europe!)
I (big deep breath) love (big note) yooooooooooou (octave higher) Eurooooooooooooope!

While we are in this poetic mood, M 'Melodi' M:son has scoodled another ditty to combat those guitar blues...

Forget your black and white blues,
Be captured by a melodi storm and share the news!

Pluck a G string, strum a chord,
Get out the prayer mat to pray to Carola's Lord!
Christer's guitarist maybe chosen,
To be strumming at the Globen.
It doesn't have to be all electric rock,
Get out a glitterball and strut in a frock!
With a little 'piece' of imagination
Guitars might be the next big sensation!

Quite right - Magnus proved that we needn't fear guitars last year (if Nanne hadn't already swung it in 2005 and 1998)...

Still - the Poodles were trying to onvince us otherwise...

It can't work in reality, that is exactly what I suppose.
