Today, Mr Ronnie Hazlehurst sadly passed away at the age of 79.
Mr Hazlehurst conducted Eurovision entries for the UK 7 times! He famously used an umbrella as his baton in 1977 in London. Following the success of Bucks Fizz, BBC took the Eurovision Song Contest to Harrogate in 1982. As musical director, Ronnie looked the part in his dickie bow and what appeared to be a stethoscope stuck in his ears - oh how Jan Leeming laughed!
He was also responsible for many BBC classic theme tunes!
Sit back an enjoy some of Ronnie's finest and famous melodis!
Are you being served?
Ronnie used a piccolo to spell out the title to Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em in Morse Code. The classic comedy featuring Michael Crawford as Frank Spencer. You can hear it here!
He also composed: Yes (Prime) Minister, To the Manor Born, Last of the Summer Wine, The Two Ronnies - to name a few!
Ronnie went all electronic for Odd one out the quiz show presented by magician Paul 'You're like it - not a lot' Daniels in the 80s.
But the Melodimen plinkety plonkety favourite is...
Blankety Blank - These opening titles feature Terry Wogan and the Blankety Blank Chequebook and pen!
One of the best jingles ever has to be:
"Super match game, super match game, SUPER MATCH GAME!"
According to the Guardian, Ronnie also co-wrote S Club 7 hit - Reach!
Ronnie we salute you, we hope you enjoy the Last of the Summer Wine in the great glitterball in the sky!
